The Untimely Saga

Episode1

“Good Luck”

Set Out: The OPD of a local clinic.

Characters: Radha (The doctor), Rachit (The patient and our lead.
Location: Mumbai.

Objects: Medical & Surgical Instruments, Medics and Furniture.

Radha: Rachit, I am not really sure if I should suggest you on this but since you are not just a patient but also my brother’s friend, I think I should speak to you about it.

Rachit: What do you want to say Radha? Please tell me!!

Radha: Anuj did tell me about your fondness for a girl. A girl you spoke just once with, that too in a conference in Ahmedabad last year. All this you do everyday, it is going to create more problems. You are not habitual to this routine. Why are you doing this?? It has already been 6 months. Do you you really think she might remember you by any chance?? I go to 6 conferences every month and meet hundreds of people. I don’t remember even 3 of them. You are expecting a little too much. Don’t you think??

Rachit: I am not expecting anything from anyone. I am just into a routine now and trying to persist with it. Something I should have done way earlier. But I was caught up with few priorities so now is the right time for me. But I do understand your concerns. Thanks anyways for caring about me.

Radha: Hey! That is not the point. We have grown up together and Anuj and I know you more than anyone else. And I understand your feelings but…

Rachit: But??

Radha: One meeting and you have fallen. Like really!! This is not the era for the love at the first sight. You are getting my point or not?? You people are what, like 2000 km away!! You didn’t take her number, no contact. Unable to find her on Social Networks. How do you get back to her at the first place, if at all it is a serious affair??

Rachit: See, I don’t know all this. All I know is there is a set of activities that I should have done much, much before this in my life and I didn’t, but now, now I want to. I don’t know if it is love like your little brother calls it. But I am sure, it is nothing like anything in the past. All what it needs is my complete commitment and efforts. And of course a chance, if it is to happen, it will happen despite differences and distances. If not…

Radha: If not then??

Rachit: I am not sure. Initially, I had given it some thought but honestly, I feared the possible outcome in that case (giggles). It makes me think negative so I have now stopped thinking about the ” if not” scenario. I am enjoying my life Radha and it is somewhat because of what happened 6 months back. I want to take all my chances and do all what I can do. Everything else is irrelevant now.

Radha: Anuj was right about you. You are a hard nutt and adamant. And then you people are engineers. Amazing (laughs)!!! You have fallen he said and he was damn right. I can see. Fine then, I hope it doesn’t come down to “if not” scenario. I wish you find her and when you do, she reciprocates.

Rachit: Thank You Doc!!!

Radha: What is her name by the way??

Rachit: Haha!! Vishakha…!!!

Radha: Good luck finding her (smiles on the way back)…!!!

Rachit was into a mix. Puzzled yet focussed. Happy yet annoyed. Enjoying his time but still missing a part of himself. Perhaps the part he lost 6 months back in Ahmedabad.
